Privacy Policy

Effective date: March 2026

What? is designed to be a lightweight, private tool. We collect as little as possible and store nothing about you or your questions.

What we collect

Nothing. What? does not create user accounts, does not require sign-in, and does not collect any personal information.

Your questions

When you ask a question, it is sent to our server to be answered using Google Gemini. Questions are processed in real time and are never stored, logged, or retained after your answer is returned.

Conversation history exists only within your current session and is held in memory on your device. It is discarded the moment you start a new conversation or close the app.

Network requests

The app makes network requests to two places only:

1. Our backend (hosted on Railway) — to process your question and return an answer.
2. Apple's StoreKit servers — to verify your subscription.

No other third-party services, analytics SDKs, or tracking tools are used.

Subscriptions

Subscriptions are managed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not handle, store, or have access to your payment information. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in System Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.

Children

What? does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the effective date above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
